The Wilmslow hospital, Manchester, opened in June 2014, and is a modern, purely private patient exclusive day case outpatients and diagnostic and treatment facility for a range of health issues.

Offering access to world-class specialists and state-of-the-art equipment, supported by a strong tradition of excellence in healthcare, as a subsidiary of the award-winning HCA International group

The comprehensive diagnostic, treatment and ongoing health support outpatients services, include the North West's first private static 3T MRI, a full range of x-ray, ultrasound, digital mammography and cardiology technology. 2 fully integrated laminar flow operating theatres, 8 recovery bays, a discharge lounge, and 13 consulting rooms.

Our dedicated Women's health unit, run by a team of highly experienced consultants provides gynaecology services; screening, diagnosis and treatment for a whole range of female conditions. In addition to this this specialist unit offers a breast care pathway under the care of an experienced multidisciplinary team of radiologists, oncologists, breast surgeons and specialist nurses.


Job Description

The Wilmslow Hospital is now successfully into its third year and as business growth continues and patient activity increases, we are actively seeking to recruit an experienced Outpatients Nurse to complement the nursing outpatient's team.

Being a part of this team, you will have the opportunity to develop your career by working alongside some fantastic professionals, supportive management and leading Consultants. This role will support all clinics, however particularly focus on ophthalmic, ensuring the delivery of a first class nursing service and customer care.

Salary: £26,358 to £29,851 per annum dependant on experience

Working hours: 37.5hrs per week Mon-Sat (7.30am-9pm) working Long days

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To demonstrate good clinical practice at all times
  • Responsible for the organisation of clinics to ensure smooth, efficient operations
  • Undertake extended roles such as IV cannulation, phlebotomy and advanced wound dressings
  • Assist in nurse-led clinics
  • Ensure patients privacy and confidentiality
  • Chaperoning and assisting medical staff
  • Carry out observations, investigations and treatments as required
  • Maintain accurate records of patient care
  • Organise tests and appointments both within and outside the hospital
  • Provide patients and families with information regarding the management of their condition
  • Ensure correct labelling and transport of specimens
  • Responsible for the control storage and administration of drugs
  • Ensure that medications and immunizations are administered in line with the correct protocol
  • Carry out any other duties which are deemed reasonable by management or senior staff in order to ensure the smooth running and efficiency of the facility.


Skills & Experience

  • NMC Registered
  • Experience of or an interest in the field of ophthalmic
  • Experience of administering medication and immunizations
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of literacy and numeracy
