Situated on 20 acres of glorious English countryside adjoining the Royal Savill Garden, and only 25 miles from central London, our client is an IB World School for over 600 students (ages 3 to 18), and 160 expert faculty and staff from over 50 countries.

They currently have an opportunity for a School Nurse. The purpose of the role is to provide health services to students, faculty and staff, and to educate the school community in sound health practices. The hours are 0800 to 1700 (27 hours), Monday to Wednesday. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic experienced and flexible individual to join their dedicated and friendly professional team. A competitive pro rata salary is on offer commensurate with this important term-time only role.

Key Responsibilities:

·Provides emergency care in case of illness and administers first aid in case of injury to students, faculty, staff and family members on campus in accordance with accepted principles of practice and established policies and procedures.
·Determines whether a student needs to be excused or remain in class when feeling unwell, with a strong emphasis on remaining in school. Contacts parents in a timely manner once a decision has been made to send a student home.
·Maintains confidential and up to date health records for all students. This is to include daily medications, allergies, past injuries that may cause physical limitations and tetanus status. More sensitive information may be maintained as a hard copy record, kept in a locked file.
·Provides guidance on health history, medical needs, current practices and medication requirements of students in the classrooms and those participating in field trips.
·When necessary, individual health screening of a student's height, weight and hearing may need to be recorded.
·Informs and advises parents of the need for the student to see a GP, Nutritionist, Ophthalmologist, Audiologist, Specialist Nurse Practitioner etc, when a specialist opinion is needed.
·Maintains up to date knowledge in child protection issues and crisis intervention policies
Knowledge, skills and experiene required:
·Must be a Registered Nurse with the NMC and a member of the RCN.
·Must have School experience
·Attends a Health and Safety Executive (HSE) approved standard first aid course and maintain minimal certification
·Organised and with the ability to manage own time and caseload, prioritising as necessary
·Understands and respects the school's lines of communication.
·Able to work and concentrate with frequent interruptions
·Keeps self-current with health knowledge and trends through professional literature and professional development
·Caring and supportive
·Open to cultural differences, experiences and must be non-judgmental.
