PART-TIME SCHOOL NURSE - OXFORD

Our client is one of the best known co-educational boarding/day preparatory schools in the country offering an outstanding educational experience for both boys and girls from 4 to 13 years. The school is situated in an attractive location in North Oxford on the banks of the River Cherwell, a mile from the historic centre of Oxford.

A vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join a team of Nurses in the School Health Centre (27 hrs per week on a rota basis). The team provide high quality nursing care to pupils and those within the school community on a 24 hour basis. The successful applicant must be a registered level 1 nurse with demonstrable experience and an active interest in working with children. First Aid and IT skills are also essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:
·To provide high quality nursing care to pupils and those within the school community on a 24 hour basis.
·To provide warm, caring and positive surroundings for the effective and efficient implementation of health care within the school.
·To assess, diagnose and evaluate the nursing needs of the child or staff member.
·To create appropriate Care Plans
·To liaise with Line Manager, Houseparent's, staff and other members of the Medical team.
·To work as part of the pastoral team
·Assess and undertake basic care of minor ailments
·Provide a first aid assessment of accidents and injuries ; provide treatment or refer as appropriate
·When trained and assessed undertake immunisations for boarding children with the UK child vaccination programme
·Offer pitch side first aid cover

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
·Salary: £19,858.50 (.675 of £29,420 per annum Full Time Equivalent for 41 weeks)
·Term Time only (32 teaching weeks, 3.2 weeks inset, 5.8 weeks annual leave)
·Hours of work: The School provides 24 hour nursing care in the Health Centre and the shifts are based on a rota system. The post involves working a combination of weekday, weekend am and pm shifts and night shifts.
