Contract type: Permanent

RCN Exeter Office

Ref: RCN00562

At the Royal College of Nursing we're an optimistic organisation. And we've got good reason to be. We are the largest professional union of nursing staff and students in the UK - with around 435,000 members - and we speak with a strong voice when it comes to changing the shape of health policies. We can see great possibilities for a brighter future. Join us and you will too.

We're number 15 in The Sunday Times 100 Best Not for Profit Organisations to work for, with Two Star Best Companies Accreditation for 2017 and are accredited with Investors in People Gold Standard.

This highly influential role will place you at the centre of our work and the health community across the South West. Your enthusiasm, influence and leadership will drive the development of our services in the region and ensure we go ever further to support nurses and campaign for better patient care. You will have a significant corporate role in the RCN and will be involved in shaping and delivering the RCN's strategic agenda in England and across the UK.

We are an innovative, progressive organisation that will encourage your ideas and fresh thinking. You will make a big impression across the regional health community, championing partnership working, professional development, quality patient care and improvements to our members working conditions.

We expect you to look after our members. And we expect you to be rewarded for it. As well as a whole range of learning and development opportunities we can also offer you an impressive range of benefits. We have a highly competitive pay structure, as well as flexible working, and annual leave of up to 32 days.

Balancing work and life commitments is important to us as an organisation. We are a diverse organisation and understand everyone has different needs. All employees can ask for flexible working and when personal circumstances change we will work with you to find a smarter working solution that suits everyone. In fact, many of our employees enjoy home working, flexible working or compressed hours, enabling them to deliver results with minimum impact to their professional and personal commitments. We also offer generous Maternity, Paternity and Adoption leave packages.

You will be responsible for the development of a strong team of staff, and a large cohort of activists within the region ensuring the delivery of a high quality service to our members.

Your management experience, nursing registration, high resilience and political astuteness will give you the credibility to take on this role.

Your extensive knowledge of the key issues in health and nursing will impress everyone you meet. You should be a strong communicator and negotiator who is adept at influencing others and managing and developing a large team.

To succeed at the Royal College of Nursing all you need to do is think bigger, better and brighter. And with an attitude like that, anything's possible.
