Looking for an exciting job opportunity within prison healthcare?

HMP Hewell is a split site prison separated by approximately half a mile. The larger part is category B, holding up to 1,104 remand, sentenced and vulnerable prisoners and has the potential to hold category A prisoners as well. The smaller part (The Grange) is a category D open site holding up to 204 prisoners. There is an 18 bedded inpatient unit and a dispensing pharmacy on site (both on the Cat B site).

This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week across 7 days on a rotational basis including weekends and public holidays, no nights. We can also consider Part time role .

The salary for this role is up to £25,000 per annum – dependent on experience (pro rata for part time role)

To ensure the continued quality of care at HMP Hewell, we’re looking for Pharmacy Technicians to come and join our team.

About the Job:

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will assist with the provision and delivery of an integrated, safe, legal, high quality prison pharmaceutical service, taking into consideration, at all times, the need to maintain a high level of security.
You will be required to support the delivery of Pharmacy Services, which will be part be of a comprehensive healthcare package, based on the prison service’s needs. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be an integral member of the Pharmacy Team, which forms part of the wider cluster of Healthcare Services. Care UK policies and procedures and statutory frameworks governing patient care in a prison setting, will be used in order to deliver the highest standard of care to clients in line with National Guidelines.

You'll be required to accept certain activities in relation to the day to day operational management of their unit and as such must ensure that they are trained and competent to take on these additional responsibilities. You may be required to take on a role of working across multiple Pharmacy Services if and when required.

Job Requirements:

You will hold NVQ Level 3, BTEC or equivalent qualifications and must have a current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council. You will also have relevant post-registration experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
