We have an exciting opportunity for a Staff Nurse to join our surgical Day Care Unit at The Platinum Medical Centre, part of The Wellington Hospital in St Johns Wood, London (NW8 9LE)


Job Description

The Surgical Day Care unit is situated at the Platinum Medical Centre. Our department consists of 12 private beds in individual rooms and 6 reclining chairs and is situated in a very quiet environment in the building. We handle a variety of surgical procedures which include; ENT, Max fax, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, minor plastics, injections and pain management. This is a very friendly area which offers flexibility within the department. Our staff are friendly and supportive and we value the experience and skills of our staff.

As the Staff Nurse, working within our Day Surgery unit, you will plan, deliver and evaluate high standards of nursing care whilst working within a multidisciplinary team, supervising and directing junior staff and also temporary staff. You'll demonstrate good clinical practice at all times and to be accountable for own actions and contribute to the setting of clinical standards, policy and procedures and research based care and other practice development initiatives.

Salary: £31,630 - £35,822 + 4% enhancement (dependent on experience)

Working hours: Full time 37.5hrs PW (Mon-Fri)

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate good clinical practice at all times and to be accountable for own actions
  • Assess, plan and deliver care to meet patient and family needs
  • Undertake extended roles such as IV cannulation, phlebotomy
  • Contribute to research based care and other practice development initiatives
  • Contribute to the setting of clinical standards, policy and procedure
  • Promote good communication channels amongst staff enhancing good team work
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
  • Deputise for senior staff in their absence, demonstrating leadership and management
  • Registered Nurse Level 1


Skills & Experience

  • NMC Registration and PREP requirements
  • Post-graduate experience of a broad range of surgical procedures
  • Basic life support
