Fast forward your nursing career at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Our world-renowned hospitals are full of opportunity for nurses who are starting out in general or specialist medicine, or looking for progression to develop new skills, get involved in quality improvement and collaborate with leading surgical and medical teams.

Undertake a bespoke rotation programme and learn to care for patients with a range of conditions to secure a job in the specialty you love.

You will gain optimal experience by working in our nursing teams. Our highly trained and supportive senior nurses will ensure your smooth transition across a range of wards so you can gain knowledge and realise your nursing potential. You will benefit from specialist skills training, clinical and education supervision with a dedicated mentor and leadership development. You will also be able to draw on the expertise of multidisciplinary teams.

We take pride in respecting the opinions of each other and sharing our knowledge across our team that includes nurses, doctors, therapists and social workers. Our joint aim is to deliver the highest quality of care possible to our patients. Our patients come from a diverse mix of backgrounds and they present with a range of the following medical conditions:

Respiratory
We treat patients for asthma, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), sleep disorders, allergic conditions, interstitial lung disease and pulmonary fibrosis in our 21 bed respiratory ward.

Gastroenterology
We provide a complete service for the diagnosis and care of patients with a range of gastroenterological conditions like: inflammatory bowel, coeliac, peptic ulcer, cancers of the oesophagus, stomach, pancreas and bowel.

Acute assessment unit and acute medical unit
You will also be able to experience working on our busy and stimulating AAU and AMU units where we care for patients who present with a medical emergency. Their conditions can include acute sepsis, severe deterioration of chronic illness, routine problems that require immediate action and cardiac failure. You will be able to follow the patient pathway from admittance and total treatment plan to discharge or patients may be transferred to a specialist ward for further treatment. With this experience you will be well prepared for a more senior role within acute medical care and/or working in emergency and intensive care departments.

Elderly care and frailty
We care for the elderly in a 21 bedded ward with eleven beds for patients with infectious diseases. You will perfect your skills and develop techniques in managing acute and complex care. We use innovative methods to achieve best experience outcomes for our patients like the use of pet therapy and activities to encourage social skills.
