Summer Fields is a boarding and day preparatory school for approximately 240 boys currently aged 8 to 13 years. The school is situated in Summertown, two miles north of the centre of Oxford and has 70 acres of superb grounds. Summer Fields has always held a strong academic tradition and each year boys pass Common Entrance and regularly win major scholarships to the top Public Schools in the country.  A new Pre-Prep for boys aged 4 to 7 is due to open in September 2018.

The school Medical Centre is located at the heart of the school and provides a 24 hour nursing service for both pupils and staff. There is a bright and cheerful clinic room, a private consultation room as well as a cosy in-patient area for pupils who require admission. The Head Sister has overall responsibility for the day-to-day health matters in the school with the assistance of a team of highly experienced nurses. The school GPs hold twice weekly surgeries in the school and they are also on call to deal with emergencies.

We require a Head Sister to oversee the management and strategic development of our Medical Centre. This is a key role within the school and the ideal candidate will have substantial experience of managing a small team and of change management. Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to relate to and communicate with boys and parents/guardians are essential qualities for this role. The successful candidate will be a registered nurse with experience in primary care and the treatment of minor injuries and minor illnesses. Experience of children's nursing is a requirement for this role and boarding school nursing experience would be an advantage.

The Head Sister is also responsible for ensuring compliance with the NMS for Boarding Schools and ISI regulations and for setting up and maintaining systems and processes that meet the required standards.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a prestigious independent school in a beautiful location in Summertown. Benefits include a contributory pension scheme, life assurance, an employee assistance programme, free parking and access to a childcare voucher scheme.
