Job Description

The Senior Theatre Practitioner will be responsible for providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team and to participate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintain agreed standards of care.

Salary between £35,673 and £40,401 plus HCA Benefits

37.5 hours per week



Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluation of patient care
  • Participate in the delegation and supervision of junior grades, unqualified and less experienced staff
  • Working with members of the Multi Disciplinary Team following local protocols and standards
  • Awareness of the effective management of resources within the department
  • Participate in education, training and development of other staff.
  • Assist in the management and organisation of the operating theatre(s)
  • The post holder will be expected to take part in the on-call rotas and rostered weekend duties
  • The post holder will be required to provide surgical or anaesthetic assistance to the consultants during all surgical procedures whether under local/regional/sedation/ general anaesthetic, with supervision
  • Assist in the positioning and preparation of a patient as directed by the surgical team and ensure that any specimens are correctly labelled and dispatched to the laboratory.
  • Help to control cross infection by observing departmental policy regarding dress, the maintenance of a clean working environment, decontamination and sterilisation procedures and asepsis.
  • Create and maintain legible and accurate records of care in accordance with HCA and the Harley Street Clinic' local policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a personal, professional profile, identifying role and skill developments.
  • Prepare patients for clinical/ operative procedures, both in anaesthetics and surgery.
  • Participate fully as a team member, including working in all areas of the theatre suite, sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues, to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of team objectives.



Skills & Experience

  • NMC registered nurse/ODP
  • Demonstrable experience working in Anaesthetics with adults and paediatrics
  • Cardiac and/or Neuro experience
  • Supervisory experience
