Then look no further… HMP YOI Swinfen Hall in Lichfield, takes male offenders from across the country aged from 18-24 with sentences of four years or more. We are a new team working with a young patient group, giving us a great opportunity to help young people to engage in health and well-being, supporting the Prison’s efforts to improve their lives ready for release The role will be an experience like no other requiring diverse and mixed nursing skills and background. One minute you could be delivering a chronic disease clinic and the next you are attending an emergency response. To ensure the continued quality of care at HMP YOI Swinfen Hall, we’re looking for Nurses to come and join our team.



So what do we have to offer?



We have a healthcare centre based in the middle of the Prison, with treatment rooms on the wings. We recognise training and development is important and we run varied courses to up skill and develop the nursing team, at Swinfen Hall we are working towards and integrated service with the Mental Health and Substance misuse teams so you will gain insight and training in Mental health and Substance Misuse. If you are new to nursing or offender health, we will create a suitable induction package to ensure you are equipped for this exciting role.



About you:



To be considered for this vacancy, you will be a RGN 1 with valid NMC registration and bring a good knowledge of clinical governance and a real passion for taking your skills even further. It goes without saying that you’ll have a solid understanding of health and safety, along with exemplary record keeping skills. Self-motivated and able to work autonomously, you’ll show plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations. Beyond that, you should have a flexible approach and the ability to achieve changing priorities by managing your own time.



Further job information:



Full-time, Part-time, Job Share and Weekend only contracts considered. The full-time role will be working 37.5 hours per week on a rota basis across 7 days. Shift times are: Mon-Fri 07:30-17:30 or Mon-Thurs 07:30-19:30 (long days), Weekends and Public Holidays 08:00-18:00. No nights! The salary for this role is £24,000 - £29,000 per annum (Pro-rata for Part-time, Job Share and Weekends only) - dependent on experience with company benefits and schemes. Please note that this role is subject to Care UK Terms & Conditions and offers of employment are subject to satisfactory receipt of references, enhanced DBS check and prison vetting.



As a Staff Nurse within primary care, you can expect to be involved in everything from clinical triage to the evaluation and development of patient care and standards. You’ll carry out – and potentially develop – nurse-led clinics, reviewing patient histories, undertaking relevant examinations and tests, organising any necessary treatment and referring patients to other healthcare professionals when you need to. Across everything you do, you’ll maintain accurate records and provide the kind of helpful, empathetic support that will make every patient feel at ease.
