The team

Our Private Client Practice Group offers excellent service and legal advice and are committed to delivering an amazing client experience for companies in the UK. Today we call our Private Client Litigation offering Access Legal Solicitors because that's precisely what it does. It gives our private clients access to the law through friendly, approachable people who know that understanding individual need is the first step to making the law work.

Our Clinical Negligence team advises private clients on complaints and claims involving all types of medical negligence.

 

The role

We have a vacancy for a Medical/Legal Assistant to deal with enquiries from clients who have potential medical negligence claims. You will be supervised by a Senior Solicitor but expected to deal with clients’ calls and queries regarding the medical treatment that they received, on a day to day basis.

This role is based within our Reading office, but if the start date is prior to 16th March then you may be required to work from our Basingstoke office until that date.

 

Main responsibilities

  • Returning client calls in a timely and efficient manner;
  • Gathering information from clients regarding their medical condition and treatment;
  • Ensuring that all the information gathered is properly recorded on the case management system;
  • Referring details of the potential claims on for risk assessment and review by a senior solicitor;
  • Collating documents sent in by clients onto the case management system;
  • Informing clients of the outcome of their enquiry;
  • Providing excellent client care.

 

Skills and qualifications

Applicants will have a medical background and will either have dealt with complaints about medical treatment or worked in a medico-legal environment.

An excellent telephone manner, the ability to drill down into the detail of the enquiry and the ability to work in a team environment is essential. You should have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines, with good attention to detail. You should also have good IT skills.
