Medicine Services received a “GOOD” from the CQC and our Emergency Department is recognised as one of the top ten in the country.

The Medical Directorate is looking for caring, committed and compassionate nurses.

Over 90% of our patients are emergencies so there is always the opportunity to gain a range of experience and skills; each of our wards has dedicated specialities so you can enhance your knowledge, skills and experience in your preferred clinical area.

The Acute Medical Unit (AMU) is always busy working closely with the emergency unit’s urgent GP referrals. Our Cardiology ward and coronary care unit care for patients with a range of heart conditions.

The respiratory ward, Pitton, looks after patients with a range of respiratory conditions including patients with complex, acute and high dependency respiratory conditions. The Gastro-enterology ward (Redlynch) works closely with the Endoscopy Department and Specialst Nurses to provide acute care for patients with Hepatological and Gastro-intestinal conditions.

We have newly established endocrine ward (Whiteparish), which works closely with the diabetes team to provide care for patients with acute needs and also those being treated for longer-term conditions.

Our stroke unit (Farley) looks after both critically ill stroke patients when they are first admitted, going on to provide rehabilitation and therapy services always aiming to discharge the patient in a timely and supported way.

We treat elderly patients with both acute illnesses and those requiring rehabilitation needs and Durrington Ward, acts as an acute frailty unit to treat elderly patients who only require a short stay in Hospital.

We are looking to recruit experienced nurses to join our team in the Emergency Department. Whether you are newly qualified or have experience there are opportunities for rotational posts within medicine, including the Emergency Department or with other specialist services across the Trust in our Surgical and Muscular Skeletal Directorates.
