Located in the heart of London’s esteemed medical district, the newly-refurbished Princess Grace Hospital offers a wide range of medical and surgical specialties.

Our eight fully-equipped theatres include three laminar flow theatres for orthopaedic surgery and a robotic surgery suite along with some of the most advanced radiological diagnostic facilities in the country. Procedures covered at the Princess Grace include; orthopaedic, gynaecology, urology and general surgery and are conducted by consultants from leading London Hospitals who are experienced and world renown in their field of expertise.

Supported by world-class doctors from leading London teaching hospitals, the hospital has 129 beds, including a purpose-built intensive care unit, catering for Level 3 patients.

Job Description

As a Senior Theatre Anaesthetics Practitioner, you will be working as part of a team to ensure a high standard of care and safety for patients within the theatre unit. In addition, you will actively contribute to the establishment of good communications and relationships between staff, doctors, patients, relatives and visitors and mentor junior members of the team.

Salary between £35,673 and £40,401 plus enhancement and HCA Benefits (dependent on experience)

Rotational shift pattern, 37.5 hours per week

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver a consistently high standard of patient care utilising evidence based practice
  • Prepare the Anaesthetic room according to the individual needs of the patient and Anaesthetist.
  • Ensure all equipment is checked prior to use and any faults reported to the Theatre Co-ordinator immediately.
  • Coaching and development of more junior team members
  • Deal with enquiries, complaints etc. with appropriate action
  • Smooth hand over and hand back at change of shift, to ensure there is no disruption in the care patients receive.
  • Prepare patients and provide assistance for clinical/operative procedures.
  • Participate fully as a team member, including working in all areas of the theatre suite, sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues, to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of team objectives.

Skills & Experience

  • RGN or registered OPD with NMC or HPC
  • Anaesthetics course and extensive anaesthetics experience
  • Evidence of on-going professional development
  • Mentorship course or willingness to undertake the course
  • Effective communication and ability to maintain accurate documentation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of different emergency situations
