Located in the heart of London’s esteemed medical district, the newly-refurbished Princess Grace Hospital offers a wide range of medical and surgical specialities. Supported by world-class doctors from leading London teaching hospitals, the hospital has 129 beds, including a purpose-built intensive care unit, catering for Level 3 patients. Our eight fully-equipped theatres include three laminar flow theatres for orthopaedic surgery and a robotic surgery suite along with some of the most advanced radiological diagnostic facilities in the country.

The Intensive Care Unit was opened in 2011 and contains 9 beds made up of 4 open bays and 5 single side rooms. It cares for both level 2 and 3 patients and the typical case mix includes elective colorectal and HBP, complex urology, spinal surgery and will also accommodate unplanned and medical admissions. Modern care delivery equipment is present throughout the unit including the latest generation of ventilators, patient monitors, cardiac output monitoring, renal replacement devices and near patient testing facilities.

Job Description

As a Staff Nurse within our ICU unit you will provide high quality nursing through assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating care for patients whilst working within a multidisciplinary team, supervising and directing junior staff and also temporary staff. You’ll demonstrate good clinical practice at all times and to be accountable for own actions and contribute to the setting of clinical standards, policy and procedures and research based care and other practice development initiatives.

Hours: This is a full time job, 37.50 hours per week.  (lates and earlies, days, nights, weekends on rotation)

Salary: £31630pa - £35822pa (Depending on experience) + 9% shift enhancements

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate good clinical practice at all times and to be accountable for own actions
  • Assess, plan and deliver care to meet patient and family needs
  • Undertake extended roles such as IV cannulation, phlebotomy
  • Contribute to research based care and other practice development initiatives
  • Contribute to the setting of clinical standards, policy and procedure
  • Promote good communication channels amongst staff enhancing good team work
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
  • Deputise for senior staff in their absence, demonstrating leadership and management

Skills & Experience

  • Registered Nurse Level 1 
  • NMC Registration and PREP requirements 
  • Experience within a critical care setting preferably within a UK hospital
  • Health and Safety 
  • Lifting and Handling 
  • Basic life support
