Our busy Endoscopy Unit currently consists of one procedure room with three patient beds as well as access to inpatient beds. The department undertakes a range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy including ERCP and capsule endoscopy. We are currently renovating and expand the unit, whilst working towards JAG accreditation.

Job Description

As Senior Staff Nurse in our Endoscopy unit, you will support the clinical caseload of the team whilst also supporting the Endoscopy Coordinator in the day to day running of the unit. The day to day running of the unit will involve the management of the staff rota, staff training and staff allocation. You will also be involved in the management of bookings, working closely with consultants and ensuring resources are in place.

Salary £35,673 - £40,401 per annum plus enhancements and HCA Benefits

Hours: 37.5hrs per week plus on calls

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To demonstrate good clinical practice at all times and to be accountable for own actions
  • Assist in organisation of clinics to ensure smooth, efficient operations
  • Prioritising workloads and directing staff accordingly
  • Deputise for Sister, providing management and leadership in her absence
  • Assist in nurse-led clinics
  • Ensure patients privacy and confidentiality
  • Chaperoning and assisting medical staff
  • Carry out observations, investigations and treatments as required
  • Ensure equipment is in good working order
  • To maintain accurate records of patient care
  • Organise tests and appointments both within and outside the hospital
  • Provide patients and families with information regarding the management of their condition
  • Responsible for the control storage and administration of drugs
  • Administrative duties as required
  • To carry out nursing duties as requested by senior staff

Skills & Experience

  • RGN, NMC registered with PIN
  • Extensive endoscopy experience
  • ERCP and therapeutic experience
  • Experience in capsule endoscopy and decontamination of flexible endoscopes.
  • JAG accreditation experience desirable
  • Strong communicator with ability to influence internal/external stakeholders
  • Anaesthetic Experience desirable but not essential.
