HMP Pentonville is a Cat B/C adult male prison located in the borough of Islington in London.

About the Job:

As a Senior Nurse you will work as part of an integrated healthcare team, utilising your clinical expertise, decision making and problem solving skills to provide skilled and evidence based nursing care for patients in the prison. You will work within your scope of practice, in accordance with Care UK and prison service policies and procedures in line with the NMC Code of professional conduct, performance and ethics for nurses and midwives. You'll be responsible for leading and developing a team providing clinical supervision to all staff. You'll participate in the on-site and on-call rota to provide 24 hour cover for the service. As Team Leader, you'll also deputise for the Deputy Head of Healthcare in their absence and support them across the range of their duties.

Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach – an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care. At HMP Pentonville there is a large purpose built healthcare centre which has inpatient unit, a day care facility for patients with mental health problems that are managed on the wings. There are also a number of consulting rooms both within the main prison and in the Healthcare Centre. On each of the wings there is a primary care facility incorporating a GP's clinic and area for dispensing of medication. These also include; Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Podiatry & Physiotherapy.

Further Job Information:

This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week. The salary for this role is up to 36,000 per annum - dependent on experience. HMP Pentonville is a 24/7 healthcare facility and therefore, you will be required to work weekdays, nights, weekends and public holidays. To be considered for this role you will be a RGN/RMN and hold a current NMC registration with evidence of continued professional development post registration.
