About the Job:

Our Mental Health Team provides a primary and secondary care service to prisoners with a broad range of mental health problems. We are looking for a dynamic and forward thinking Team Leader to continue the development of this key service within HMP Isle of Wight. You would be working closely with the wider healthcare and prison leadership team to improve the wellness and recovery of prisoners with mental health needs.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Primary Care Mental Health Practitioner (MH Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Counsellor or Therapist) to join our established Prison Mental Health Team. This is a great opportunity to develop skills in primary mental health care within the context of complex needs. In the main the role comprises of providing assessments for initial referrals and low intensity interventions both on a group and individual basis The Prison Mental Health Team uses a stepped care model, and offers a range of evidence–based interventions to a diverse prison community presenting with a wide range of mental health problems. There are a range of training opportunities available to enable the development of skills and expertise. The Mental Health team works in close partnership with the overall health services and other departments within the prison.

This is a Full time role working 37.5 hours per week. Salary: £32,000 to £38,000 pro rata based Shift Pattern/working hours are on a rota basis covering 24 hours, 7 days a week.
