Job Details

Barchester Healthcare has over 200 purpose-built care homes across all areas of the UK specialising in care for the elderly and seven private hospitals in the North East specialising in mental health.

Barchester Healthcare is actively seeking high-quality Care Practitioners for positions across the country, who can make a real difference to the residents in their care.

Barchester is all about doing things a little bit differently. Our unique approach to the care sector sets us apart, so to make things happen our people need to be a little bit different too.

This is a fantastic time to join Barchester Healthcare, as we roll out one of the best rewards packages in the care sector. We offer a competitive salary and impressive benefits; not least an outstanding profit share scheme, unrivalled in this sector, designed to recognise the excellent performance of every team across the business.

The role of Care Practitioner is the highest level of Care Assistant within Barchester and provides a rewarding and fulfilling career with the opportunity for continual professional development.

The Care Practitioner role would suit those already qualified to undertake the responsibilities shown below, as well as high-quality Senior Care Assistants who are keen to train to become Care Practitioners.

Reporting to the Registered Nurse on-site, our Care Practitioners assume key responsibilities, which include;
* Medication
* Tissue viability/wound management
* Continence
* Physiological assessment and care planning
* Leadership and supervision of the care team.

If you need to undertake training for this role, you must already have achieved VQ Level 3, preferably with an apprenticeship, and/or GCSE Maths & English, minimum Grade C.

The training programme runs for six months, during which time you will complete the Care Certificate and a series of workshops. You will also be given the opportunity to gain additional VQ units. You will then receive the Care Practitioner award.

On successful completion of the programme, you will be awarded the title of Care Practitioner, entitling you to wear a distinctive uniform. Your remuneration will increase to reflect the greater responsibility and increased skill-set of your role.

If you have the unique qualities required for this exciting role and want to work with an organisation that provides the type of care you'd expect for your loved ones, we would welcome your application.

From 01st April, Barchester Healthcare adhere to the new legal requirements of the National Living Wage.

Please note; depending on application numbers we sometimes need to close or extend the closing dates for positions, we would therefore recommend and early application.

Quality care is at the heart of everything we do. Along with great colleagues, our residents, patients and their families, that’s what makes working at Barchester so rewarding – and we’re proud to deliver the compassionate and person-centred care you’d expect for your loved ones.
