The BMI Blackheath Hospital is a mid-sized and busy acute care hospital that prides itself on the level of superb quality patient care it provides. The Hospital has 60 beds with all rooms offering en-suite facilities, three main theatres, a minor treatment room and an Endoscopy suite, Physiotherapy Services, Diagnostic Imaging and Consulting Rooms. These facilities combined with the latest in technology and on-site support services; enable our consultants to undertake a wide range of investigations and operations, from routine investigations to complex surgery. Consultants have the support of caring and highly trained nursing and allied healthcare professionals as well as access to some of the latest technology and equipment. With a team of resident medical officers available 24hours a day, the hospital provides an ideal environment for excellent clinical care and patient recovery.

As a result of on-going growth at the hospital we have an exciting position available for an experienced Senior Registered Nurse to join the Surgical Ward based team at the BMI Blackheath Hospital, Greater London. We are therefore looking for people who share BMI Healthcare’s belief in providing the highest standards of care for patients and ideally have experience working with orthopaedic or spinal patients.

This is a Full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Registered general nurse level 1/ Diploma / BSc in Nursing studies
  • Evidence of relevant clinical professional development preferably evidenced by certification RN with valid NMC Registration
  • Registered Nurse(Adult), with mentorship and post Degree qualification- orthopaedics.
  • Currently updated- NMC revalidation or PREP profile.
  • Experience in clinical and nursing management of the adult patient that is undergoing orthopaedic and other surgical procedures or requiring medical intervention.
  • Understanding of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.Good communication skills, good customer care and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance programmes and tools.

Duties of this role include:     

  • To ensure that standards of patient care are consistently maintained at all times in accordance with agreed operational policies and procedures.
  • Working to maintain and enhance the customer service and satisfaction of service users.
  • To promote and safeguard the well-being and interests of all Patients, Employees and Consultants acting as an advocate to more junior members of the team. 
  • Where appropriate to deputise for the Sister/ Charge Nurse and the lead on clinical shifts.
