Job Description
We are actively seeking to strengthen our Management of the Paediatric RMO Service, a full time position, supporting the Chief Nursing Officer in providing effective, professional leadership to the paediatric RMOs employed across The Harley Street Clinic and The Portland Hospital.
This role will ensure that the management of paediatric patients to provide specialist support for admitting consultants is well planned, and of a high quality. The post holder will line manage the paediatric RMO staff in both facilities - ensuring that they are recruited following best practice, provide robust orientation and supervision, mentorship, support and development, ensuring consistency across both hospital sites.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve in principle as Head of Department for all paediatric RMOs working in The Portland Hospital and The Harley Street Clinic, and will interact with other HoDs in the facilities to ensure the delivery of a safe and effective, high quality service to children.
- Produce and manage all of the paediatric RMO rotas, either directly or through delegation that meet service requirements at all times and are compliant with the European Working Time Directive.
- Lead in the recruitment of paediatric RMOs.
- Develop and lead a clinical rotation programme for paediatric RMOs across The Portland Hospital and The Harley Street Clinic.
- Support RMOs in academic programmes sponsored by HCA to balance their working and academic commitments.
- As required, and to maintain clinical credibility, to undertake clinical shifts. If undertaking a clinical shift the requirements below apply: Provide occasional specialist medical cover, routine and emergency during hours of duty and to act, as may be reasonably required, on instructions given by the consultants regarding patients management
- To remain within the hospital premises while on duty at all times. In the event of an RMO not attending for duty at the hospital the previous RMO must remain until a replacement if ensuring continuous cover is required
Skills & Experience
Essential
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Registered with the GMC with current licence to practice.
- Successful completion of MRCPCH Part 1 A and B or equivalent
- EPLS provider
- Significant Specialist Paediatric experience
- Successful completion of “Safeguarding Children: Recognition and Response in Child Protection” or equivalent.
- Experience managing junior medical staff.
Desirable
- Success in FRCA Primary MCQ Examination or equivalent by date of application
- Success in Primary FRCA or equivalent
- Competent in intrathecal drug administration
- Completion of CCT
