We have an exciting opportunity for a Ward Manager to join our Acute Neurological Rehabilitation Unit based at our facility in St Johns Wood, London (NW8 9LE). This unit is the largest independent rehabilitation unit in the UK and provides comprehensive interdisciplinary inpatient rehabilitation programmes to patients with acquired brain injury, neurological conditions and complex medical disability.

Job Description

As a Ward Manager you will report into the Matron and will oversee the running of our state-of-the art Neuro Rehabilitation ward, which consists of 17 beds, based on the 4th Floor North tower of the Wellington Hospital. • Job Type: Permanent, full-time role (37.5 hours per week) • Shift pattern: 7.5 hours per day (Monday - Friday). Core hours 8am – 4pm with occasional early starts/late finishes. • Salary: £45,754 - £52,619 plus a comprehensive benefits package. • Benefits: Structured career development, funded courses, health and wellbeing support system, private pension, private medical care cover and much more.

Duties & Responsibilities

• You will provide the clinical and operational leadership on a daily basis, ensuring that exceptional standards of care are adhered to at all times. • Take an effective role in staff management; including, recruitment and retention, ensuring all staff receive the necessary training and professional development they require, as well as managing rostering, holiday and sickness ensuring that the unit is always appropriately staffed. • To provide clinical leadership by acting as a positive role model, who practices evidence-based care, to ensure high standards of clinical care as well as ensuring that the patients achieve their goals of admission. • To maintain departmental cost in line with the budget and monitor revenue throughout the year. • Establish optimum care standards to meet or exceed current standards, as well as ensuring that risk management strategies are in place.

Skills & Experience

• Registered Nurse with extensive post graduate experience. • Previous experience at a Senior Sister/Ward Manager level with excellent leadership skills. • Neurological and/or neurological rehabilitation experience is desirable. • ENB 998 course or equivalent mentoring course. • Evidence of effective staff management with the ability to manage resources efficiently within budgetary constraints and for a constantly changing workload. • An enthusiastic and motivated individual who is able to build effective relationships with your teams, consultants, managers, patients and visitors. • Excellent communication skills, with a strong collaborative approach and ability to engage the nursing workforce and multidisciplinary teams.
