Weston Hospicecare provides specialist care for local people who are living with life-limiting illnesses. A much loved and well supported local charity, the hospice is based in Uphill, a quiet village on the outskirts of Weston-super-Mare, Somerset.

Everyone receives a warm welcome from our hospice team who are devoted to helping those we care for to live as well as they can, for as long as possible, tending to their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs. Our team of dedicated professionals works both at the hospice and out in our widespread community, striving for people to be treated and cared for in their place of choice, be that within the hospice, their own home, or in a care home.

We’re seeking a Registered Nurse to join our friendly, supportive team of highly skilled nurses based primarily at our 10-bed inpatient unit, plus some work within our community team and at our day hospice.

This is a permanent position working a variety of flexible shifts to cover a 24 hour period and includes a share of night duty, weekends and bank holidays with enhancements for unsocial hours. We invite applications for either 22.5 hours, 30 hours or 37.5 hours per week – please clearly mark your preference on your application. Appointment to this post is subject to an Enhanced DBS certificate.

Previous experience in palliative care and related study/courses is advantageous, however we provide a full induction programme to support you in the role, a supportive learning environment with highly experienced colleagues, and the successful candidate will enjoy access to a range of academic and/or competency based palliative care programmes to support CPD, revalidation requirements, personal development and progression in your nursing career.
