Lead a team with HCA Healthcare UK – World’s largest private acute and complex care hospital group and winners of 'The Best Private Healthcare provider 2016' and 'Best International Cancer Services' provider 2016

London Bridge Hospital is expanding in 2017 into the top four floors of the new Guy’s Cancer Centre. With 38.2 million pound investment and 60,000 square feet this purpose built facility will allow London Bridge Hospital to house its cancer services in one roof. Consultants from London’s top teaching hospitals will offer full surgical provision in urology, gynaecology, breast, ENT, maxillofacial and head and neck, as well as reconstructive surgery for these specialties. The hospital will partner with Leaders in Oncology (LOC) across chemotherapy, outpatient oncology and haematology.

The new site encompasses inpatient and daycase beds, operating theatres including the first integrated robotics theatre in the UK, housing a Da Vinci Robot. There will also be a chemotherapy unit, outpatient consulting, Level 3 Critical Care and Imaging including X-Ray, MRI and Ultrasound.

The London Bridge Hospital campus in South East London encompasses the recently opened outpatients and diagnostic centre in The Shard, the large world-class hospital based at the Tooley Street site, and a further five outpatient and diagnostic centres across the City, Canary Wharf and Kent. Patients benefit from multidisciplinary streamlined care, investment in leading-edge technology and London teaching hospital consultants.

Our 24 bedded surgical unit is a vibrant, covering Colorectal/Gynae/Urology/Transplant/Hepatobiliary and step down HDU. Providing living related donation for liver and renal, we are also one of a few private hospitals in the UK to offer Urethroplasm and are proud to also be part of the ERAS society. Our nurses come from a varied background with experience generally within one or more of these areas, however with the support of the team, they are expected to cover all surgical conditions, offering variety within their roles and providing them the ability to learn new skills
 

Job Description

As a Sister/Charge Nurse within the Surgical unit, you will be responsible ensuring the department delivers excellent care to all patients and provides a world class services to patients, family members and consultants. Covering in the absence of the Ward Manager, you will provide guidance to junior members of the team. As well as clinical duties, you will also oversee the day to day running of the department.

This is a full time role working 37.5hrs per week (Rotation of long days and nights - 13 days per month (9days and 4 nights) 

 
The attractive and competitive salary for this role is £39,174 - £45,419 + 9% shift enhancement and will be dependent upon skills and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage a patient caseload
  • In charge of shifts
  • Involved in HR process
  • Overseeing staffing levels and planning of the department rota
  • Production of department finance reports
  • Provide mentorship to junior staff as required
  • Covering in the absence of the unit manager

Skills & Experience

For this role, you will need to have extensive experience within a surgical ward and be skilled in phlebotomy, cannulation, management of TPN, stoma’s or VAC dressings. In possession of a mentorship/assessment qualification, you will also be working towards a post grad qualification within surgical or similar
