Job Details

Providing Quality, inspiring Innovation and  delivering Value is what we set out to achieve at Priory Healthcare. Through the knowledge and expertise of our multidisciplinary clinical teams, we enable patients with mental health difficulties to receive a truly integrated and holistic approach to their treatment, regardless of complexity or severity.

The Priory Hospital Hayes Grove is an independent 46-bed psychiatric hospital for Working Age Adults (mixed), located in SE London in the quiet village of Hayes, Kent.  We provide Inpatient, Daycare and Outpatients services for patients with a wide range of Mental Health challenges.

Our private ‘Lower Court’ ward specialises in caring for patients receiving treatment for General Psychiatric conditions, and supports patients on our 28-day Inpatient Addiction Treatment Programme (drug, alcohol and other addictions).  We also have a specialist, 20-bed NHS England-funded Eating Disorder Unit and the 9-bedded Keston Unit, a specialist NHS-funded Asperger’s ward.

The Hospital is situated in a leafy, semi-rural setting, with excellent public transport links to central London, Croydon and surrounding areas in the London Borough of Bromley. Free car parking is available in the immediate vicinity of the hospital.

We welcome informal enquiries by phone or in person if you would like to come and visit before applying for a role.

We are looking for an experienced and highly-motivated Ward Manager to work alongside and lead our dedicated nursing team on the Keston Unit. The successful candidate will have proven leadership skills  coupled with a passion for developing nursing teams and delivering excellent services.  They will have relevant experience in the management and delivery of care in an Inpatient environment, along with a deep understanding of being effective in the wider development of the service and the hospital. Excellent communication skills are essential along with compliance management and supervision experience.

The Keston Unit is a nationally-renowned Adult Autistic Spectrum Disorder Service and, although experience working with this patient group is desirable, we will invest in and develop the successful candidate if they have been working in other services.

The Ward Manager will report directly to the Director of Clinical Services and will be responsible for ensuring that the nursing team on the Keston Unit possess the skills, knowledge and motivation to offer and deliver the highest quality of care to our patients. Further to this, the successful candidate will also participate in direct patient care whilst coordinating the quality of care throughout the ward, alongside the administrative requirements of the role. As well as the salary the Priory group offers a number of other benefits including a company pension scheme and a strong commitment to personal development and training.

Nursing at Priory Healthcare

At Priory Healthcare, we’re passionately committed to making a real and lasting difference for everyone we support. But that’s just the start. As a recognised leader in the healthcare sector, we’re equally passionate about harnessing the potential of everyone on our team – including our rapidly growing community of RMN’s.

So join us and we can promise you one of the most dynamic and supportive career environments in the sector.

We are already the largest mental health provider in Europe and treat upwards of 80 conditions in over 275 facilities around the country. But look beyond our size and you will also discover an unrivalled reputation for providing quality, inspiring innovation and delivery value for our service users.

What does this mean for you? More than you might imagine.

For a start, there’s greater clinical diversity here than anywhere outside of the NHS. This offers you the chance to develop your career at the forefront of nursing practice in one or  more of our six specialist areas – Acute Mental Healthcare, Secure, Rehabilitation and Complex Care, Eating Disorders and Child and Adolescent Mental Health.

You will enjoy excellent learning and development resources, too. In addition to benefiting from our award-winning e-learning programme, your structured career progression could include supported study for specialist diplomas, preceptorships if you are newly qualified, a range of other externally accredited courses, the option of becoming a trainer on your own site, and much more besides.

Our working environment and culture are also exceptional. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team of doctors, psychiatrists, therapists and other health care specialists. We don’t just work together. We listen to each other, share ideas, explore new ways of doing things and actively pursue innovation and excellence is all that we do. So while the work can be incredibly demanding, you will never lack the support, collaboration and encouragement you need to perform to your best and achieve your true potential.

As for recognition and rewards, they are everything you would expect from an organisation that values your expertise and commitment. And your career prospects? Well, the sheer scope and scale of our behavioural care services – and the pace of our development as a business – means that you can grow as far and fast as we do.
