Afc Band 6 - £26,565 to £35,577 pa pro rata

Permanent; 50 hours per fortnight

Location: Leeds Donor Centre

Ref: 918-BN2881

Have you ever thought about where the blood that you transfuse comes from? Are you thinking of taking a new direction in your nursing career? Looking for a change? If so come and work for us.

NHS Blood and Transplant collects over 7,000 blood donations every day providing vital blood and blood products that help to save and improve the lives of thousands of people every year. We are dedicated to making a difference and we need your help to do so.

We save lives but we don’t work in hospitals. No two days are the same in this fast moving and variable environment. We collect blood from donors in Donor Centres and also travel to where our donors are in mobile teams.

As a Session Sister/Charge Nurse in this autonomous role, you will lead and motivate a team of donor carers (similar to Health Care Support staff), use your clinical judgement to make safe decisions about suitability and ensure your team deliver a high standard of care that enables us to meet our regulatory and governance requirements. We need your leadership and management skills to ensure that patients receive safe blood and blood products and our donors feel safe and cared for. By giving the best experience we can for our donors, you will ensure they will want to return time and time again.

No prior specialist knowledge is required for this band 6 role, we value what you bring. If you are able to work independently, lead with compassion and resilience, excited by the prospect of enabling change in a fast moving environment, then this is the job for you. We will provide all the training and support you will need with excellent learning and development opportunities and career progression.

The shift pattern for this role is 6 days per fortnight working 50 hours over these days, up to 8.5 hours a day.  The earliest start time would by 08:00 with a finish time of approx. 16:50, if on a late shift you would be finishing at 19:30.

An informal visit is highly recommended.  To arrange an informal discussion about this role please contact Carol Butterfield at carol.butterfield@nhsbt.nhs.uk

Closing date for applications is 23:59hrs on 06 June 2018.

Interviews will take place on 26 June 2018 (subject to confirmation).
