Job Details

We're proud of our seven independent hospitals, and rightly so. And when it comes to our care, we know we must continually deliver first class service. Which is why we're looking for an outstanding Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team.

Your mission will be a simple one: under the direction of the Occupational Therapists, you will provide practical support to help patients overcome problems in carrying out their day-to-day activities. You'll be ready to join us on our journey and bring your talents to a role where you can have real impact and gain valuable experience to develop your career.

This is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious person with experience in a care and customer service environment who can demonstrate knowledge of a Therapy Assistant role. You must have an NVQ Level 2 qualification related to care/ promoting independence and be willing to work towards NVQ level 3 or QCF level 2 in Healthcare diploma.

You will understand the importance of privacy, dignity, choice and consent and uphold these basic rights at all times. You must also be aware of and adhere to relevant Health and Safety at work regulations. Follow NICE guidelines , Mental Health Act Mental Capacity Act and Health and Social Care Guidelines.

Working under the guidance of the qualified OT you will plan, implement and evaluate group and individual treatment programmes for patients which promote or maintain physical capability and independence for the patient. You will also record appropriate interactions and observations.

You will be responsible for making arrangements for the provision of assistive technology and/or adaptions, and will train clients and/or carers in the safe use of the equipment provided; ensuring they are familiar with maintenance and breakdown arrangements.

Under the direction of therapists you will use your excellent communication skills to liaise with outside agencies and act as a member of the multidisciplinary team, sharing and disseminating information with relevant team members.

You will participate and contribute to the development of the Occupational Therapy service in the Hospital and maintain the day-to-day running of the service in the absence of Occupational Therapist.

If this is a challenge that excites you, we can offer you plenty in return - from career prospects to great rewards.

As well as a competitive salary, Barchester provides one of the best rewards packages in the care sector. Your generous package will include:
* Free learning and development
* Profit share scheme
* Childcare vouchers
* Retail discounts
* Leisure savings
* Holiday and travel discounts
* Rewards points

If you have the unique qualities required for this exciting role and want to work with an organisation that provides the type of care you'd expect for your loved ones, we would welcome your application.
