We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Scrub Nurse with specialist experience in neurological and complex spinal surgery to join our team at The Wellington Hospital in St Johns Wood, London (NW89LE). Our Theatres service includes 13 Operating Theatres spread over 3 sites with a vast array of procedures covered. These include; Neurology Surgeries, Orthopaedic, Cardiothoracic, Hepatobiliary, General Surgery, Bariatrics, Urology, Plastics, Robotic Surgery, ENT & Opthalmics.

Job Description

The Senior Theatre Practitioner will gain invaluable experience working with leading surgeons, where you will focus on the highest standards of patient care and safety whilst developing your own skills and the skills of colleagues within the wider MDT. • This is full time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week. • Shifts include early & lates, working 5 days out of 7. There is also an on-call commitment. • The projected salary range is £39,000 - £46,000 (depending on experience) plus shift enhancements and a comprehensive benefits package on top. • This benefits include, structured career development, funded courses, health and wellbeing support system, private pension, private medical cover and much more.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluation of peri-operative patient care • Providing clinical leadership to junior staff and deputising for Lead in his/her absence. • Take charge of the clinical area in the absence of an advanced practitioner ensuring patient, visitors and staff safety. • Evaluates care outcomes and knows how to respond to an emergency situation. • Implements and evaluates patient care around infection control measures.

Skills & Experience

• NMC registered Theatre Practitioner/RGN or Operating Department Practitioner. • Demonstrate proven experience working in a scrub environment, with recent experience in neurological and complex spinal surgery. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and is flexible in response to the needs of the department. • Good team building skills with the ability to work well under pressure • Committed to your own professional development, and demonstrate evidence of this with recent post- registration clinical training.
