Job Details

Fast forward your nursing career at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, and be eligible for a new starter premium of £5000. Charing Cross Hospital is full of opportunity for qualified nurses looking to develop their skills in Neurosurgery or Neurology or for nurses just starting out.

We are excited to be hosting an Open day for nurses considering a career in the specialty.

Neurosurgery – 11 South Ward

On appointment you will join our experienced world renowned neurosurgical team at the West London Neurosciences Centre, Charing Cross Hospital, London. Providing emergency and planned surgery for a population of 2.1 million people in North West London.

You will experience in-depth training to develop or extend your skills in the management and care of patients requiring treatment for conditions such as:

  • Sub-arachnoid haemorrhage
  • Degenerative spinal conditions
  • Skull base tumours
  • Metastatic spinal disease
  • Functional neurosurgery (deep brain stimulation)

Previous experience in a neurosurgical setting is not a necessity. We welcome applications from those working in other acute specialties and from newly qualified nurses. You will be supported by a clinical practice educator and newly qualified staff will be enrolled on a Preceptorship programme and will be supported by a mentor during the transition from student to a qualified nurse.

Neurology – 10 North Ward

Our neurology ward is the hub of our regional neurology service, which provides expert specialist neurology care to a population of over 2 million people in North West London and beyond. In addition to our neurology in-patient beds for the sickest patients, we run a busy day case unit for the investigation and treatment of a wide range of neurological disorders.

You will be delivering care to patients with complex neurological problems as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Training on the ward will develop your skills and expertise in the care of patients with conditions such as:

  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Epilepsy
  • Motor neurone disease
  • Inflammatory neuropathies
  • Encephalitis

Our units are dynamic and vibrant places to work in, with a large and dedicated multi-disciplinary team focused on quality and education. As a team we encourage, value and appreciate each other’s good ideas and working practices.

Charing Cross Hospital has a proud heritage of caring for neurosurgical and neurology patients and continues to push the boundaries of cutting edge treatment. It is one of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust’s five leading hospitals with career pathways that are full of opportunity.

If you’re thinking of moving to a leading London trust from further afield, talk to us and we will see how we can help. Our starter premium is £2000 upfront – which can help with relocation – and £3000 after 18 months in either neurosurgery or neurology.

Drop into to our recruitment day on Tuesday 26th June 2018 which is open between 10am - 4pm

Glenister Lecture Hall, Margravine Road, London, W6 8HA (Located to the rear of Charing Cross Hospital, W6 8RF).
