We have an exciting opportunity for a Theatre Manager to lead our Theatre service, which includes 13 Operating Theatres spread over 3 sites with a vast array of procedures covered. These include; Orthopaedic, Cardiothoracic, Hepatobiliary, General Surgery, Bariatrics, Urology, Plastics, Robotic Surgery, ENT, Opthalmics and Neurology Surgeries.

Job Description

Working as the Theatre Manager you will report into the Surgical Services Manager and you will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of the theatres including: financial, business, staffing, and governance. You will be looking to deliver efficient and effective theatre staffing and create a one stop booking service for all the operating theatres. This role will involve planning and working with newest services and technologies that the facility is able to offer! • Job Type: Permanent, full-time role (37.5 hours per week) • Location: St Johns Wood, London, NW8 9LE. • Salary: £55K - £65K per annum plus annual mangement bonus scheme & HCA benefits package. • Benefits: Structured career development, pension, private medical cover and much more.

Duties & Responsibilities

• To provide strategic and operational management through the effective line management of 3 direct reports and overall accountability for approx. 70 staff across our Theatres service. • Ensure theatre staff deliver high quality specialist services for planned procedures as well as the allocation of appropriate staffing, utilising the skill mix to its full potential. • Provide direction to build the departmental business; plan new services and introduce new technologies as required and provide a highly responsive service to consultant users. • Responsibility for managing the departments within an agreed annual budget including working hours and units of service, maximising revenue capture and cost control. • To promote effective communication and co-operative working arrangement with other departments, in particular Endoscopy, Wards, Cath Lab and Imaging departments. • Oversee and participate in recruitment, workforce planning, appraisal/personal development as well as training and education programmes for staff. • To deputise or represent the Surgical Services Manager when necessary.

Skills & Experience

• Registered Practitioner with extensive experience within the Operating Theatre environment. • Previous managerial experience with excellent leadership skills. • Teaching and Assessing and/or Mentorship qualification is desirable. • Evidence of effective staff management with the ability to manage resources efficiently within budgetary constraints and for a constantly changing workload. • Excellent organisational and management skills with the ability to flexibly respond to the needs of the department and the hospital. • An enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively manage the clinical area on a day to day basis and plan ahead.
