Rowans Hospice is an independent charity offering specialist palliative care to patients with life limiting disease. We are based near Portsmouth on the south coast. Rowans Hospice offers a wide range of support to patients and their families over an extensive range of in-patient and out-patient services; we pride ourselves on our excellent care for patients, their families and our staff and volunteers. The hospice has been rated as outstanding in the latest CQC inspection and we are looking for someone who can continue to lead our ward team to maintain and build upon this excellence.
Owing to career progression, an opportunity has arisen for a confident, enthusiastic and highly motivated leader, an experienced clinician who can lead the team and has experience in specialist palliative care. We are seeking a professional, forward thinking individual who is passionate about people, and who is dedicated to providing excellent individualised end of life care. The successful candidate will be a motivated leader, with proven management experience and a commitment to the highest standards of quality care.
Main accountabilities:
- To provide clinical leadership and management support to the In-Patient Unit (IPU) team, ensuring that the highest standards of holistic nursing care are provided through supervision and operational management.
- To co-ordinate, develop and manage the IPU service in line with the Rowans strategic and operational plan.
- To represent the IPU at Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings
- Develop a culture of continuous improvement, pro-actively seeking feedback and identifying opportunities to advance and develop.
- To be a key stakeholder in the IPU refurbishment project, demonstrating resilience and leadership in the continuation of patient care activities.
- To demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development for yourself and others.
- To participate in a 6 weekly clinical on call rota within a supportive clinical management team
We are looking for the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- At least five years post NMC registration experience
- Solid knowledge and experience within a palliative care setting.
- Graduate calibre or equivalent working experience.
- Success through working with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills and someone who can quickly establish credibility and build strong working relationships.
- The ability to prioritise activities and multi-task to meet goals and deadlines.
- The willingness to work collaboratively, as part of a team – but also a flair for working independently and being accountable for the quality of personal outputs and success.
In return we can offer:
- Excellent support and mentorship, with ongoing training and personal development opportunities.
- 2:1 nurse/patient ratio
- Option to transfer your NHS Pension
- Enhanced annual leave entitlement
- Access to wellbeing initiatives including a paid subscription for a healthcare cash plan
- Free parking
