We have separate paediatric and adult intensive care units (ICUs), and our paediatric ICU is the largest private facility in Europe, with 18 beds. This allows us to support cardiology, cardiac, thoracic, cancer, spinal and other major treatments for children. We have 103 beds in total, including nine adult ICU beds offering the highest level of one-to-one care.

Job Description

As part of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care of the Oncology patient, in a holistic manner. The patient consists of adults requiring a variety of Oncology interventions and with a variable level of dependency from acute to palliative.

This is a Full-time role of 37.5 hours per week, working a rotational shift pattern.

The Salary on offer ranges from £31,000 - £38,000 dependent on experience, with an additional shift enhancement.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to meet the patient and their family’s needs
  • Early recognition of clinical problems and report or take appropriate action
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Decontaminate equipment, ensuring it is in good working order
  • Undertake extended roles such as venepuncture, cannulation and phlebotomy
  • Initiate improvements and developments in clinical issues and delivery of care
  • All ad hoc nursing duties as required by permanent staff

Skills & Experience

  • RGN with valid NMC Pin
  • Relevant post graduate experience within a UK hospital setting
  • Phlebotomy, cannulation, CVAD access and chemotherapy experience
  • Previous oncology experience
  • Previous exposure to palliative care would be advantageous
  • Chemotherapy administration certificate would be desirable
