About the Job

Care UK has been awarded a new contract for the delivery of Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) services across Suffolk and North East Essex. This means that we will be delivering urgent care through NHS 111, utilising GPs and specialist clinicians to deliver the best possible urgent care services 24/7, 365 days per year, to over 1 million patients in the region. To deliver this vision we wish to appoint a Prescribing Pharmacist who has previous experience of working within an Independent Prescribing role to work within our Clinical Assessment Service (CAS) in Ipswich. You will be responsible for providing safe and effective telephone advice about medicines use and pharmaceutical care to clinicians, patients and carers accessing the IUC Service. You’ll also have access to our electronic prescribing Directory of Service. You will also be responsible for prescribing for patients requiring repeat prescriptions and medicines and if need be, providing self-care advice such as: • How to manage without medication until their own GP is available • OTC • Other methods to access repeat medications You will be working within a Multi-Disciplinary Team in the CAS which consists of GPs/ANPs, Registered Nurses, UCPs, Mental Health and Dental Nurses and Prescribing Pharmacists and Pharmacy Advisors This is an exciting new opportunity to make a difference to patients, simplifying the way that they can access urgent care to get the right treatment in the right place at the right time. The Requirements

In order for you to be considered for the job, as a minimum we are looking for you to: • Be a qualified Pharmacist and registered with the GPhC • Be a qualified independent non-medical prescriber • Have prior experience working in within a prescribing role • Be computer literate, including all Microsoft Packages • Have a sound understand of legal/professional implications of independent practice It would be nice for you to have any one of the below, although these are not essential: • Experience of telephone triage / advice service • Good knowledge of local primary care services including key players
