Job Details
Pancreatic cancer is a tough one but we’re taking it on. We are supporting those affected by the disease, investing in ground breaking research, lobbying for greater recognition of pancreatic cancer and being a voice for everyone involved in the fight. Together we are taking on pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatic Cancer UK has a growing range of services which it provides to people affected by pancreatic cancer. These include our national support line for anyone affected by pancreatic cancer, and online discussion forum for pancreatic cancer patients, carers and families, up-to-date information on pancreatic cancer through our website and a growing range of printed materials, Living with pancreatic cancer support days for patients and families and a peer support service for people who have undergone surgery. We also provide training for healthcare professionals who are involved in the care of pancreatic cancer patients through a national pancreatic cancer study day and regional training events.
Currently we employ two specialist pancreatic cancer nurses who work in designated regions of the UK enabling us to reach more patients around the country and their families. Our pancreatic cancer specialist nurse for the Midlands and East region will be going on maternity leave in December and we are looking for someone to lead our work in this area for up to 12 months. This role works in collaboration with a Community Coordinator to implement our regional strategy.
We are keen to get the right person for the role and are therefore happy to consider applications from suitably qualified nurses wishing to work part-time, full time or on secondment. This is an exciting development opportunity, and you will gain valuable skills and experience working as part of a leading national charity committed to driving improvements in care and support for people affected by pancreatic cancer.
A qualified registered nurse with relevant specialist experience, you will have first-class communication and organisational skills, enabling you to maintain and build relationships with health professionals in the region and deliver support to patients through our Living with Pancreatic Cancer Support Days. You must have a driving licence and car and be able to set up an office at home.
We are an inclusive employer committed to developing a diverse workforce and are looking for people who can demonstrate dedication to our cause and values. We offer a supportive place to work with helpful and friendly staff who report a high level of job satisfaction. Our main office is based in London close to Westminster.
We will consider a secondment from an external organisation. Please apply in the normal way indicating that your employer would second you for this position.
Closing date Monday 24 September 2018 at 9am
Interview date Monday 8 October 2018
You must have the right to work in the UK and a driving licence when you apply.
