The BMI Cavell Hospital and its sister hospital the BMI Kings Oak Hospital are together classed as a large-sized and very busy acute care hospital that pride themselves on the level of superb quality patient care they provide. The Hospitals between them have 87 beds, three theatres including Endoscopy, Physiotherapy Services, Diagnostic Imaging and Consulting Rooms, procedures range from routine investigations to complex surgery. Consultants have the support of caring and highly trained nursing and allied healthcare professionals as well as access to some of the latest technology and equipment. With a team of resident medical officers available 24hours a day, the hospital provides an ideal environment for excellent clinical care and patient recovery.

 

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Director of Clinical Services to join the Kings Oak and Cavell Hospitals Senior Management Team to help support the growth of the hospital and to ensure Clinical Governance on site whilst also leading the clinical teams. 

 

Duties of this role will include:

  • Providing leadership and strategic direction for all clinical departments within Kings Oak and Cavell Hospital and providing clinical direction to all Nursing and Clinical staff
  • To lead and drive the delivery of excellent clinical standards of care, driving a culture of patient safety, clinical effectiveness and continuous improvement for the patient experience
  • Effective management of the financial resources of the sites Clinical Services - maximising department financial performance whilst maintaining high standards of service delivery, in accordance with legal and professional standards
  • Contributing to the strategic, operational and business development activities for the hospital as a member of the Senior Management team
  • Responsibility for the clinical departments compliance with health and safety, quality, governance, policies and procedure
  • Accountability for all clinical departments achieving compliance to internal audits
  • Initiate, develop and implement business opportunities
  • Developing local and corporate led initiatives for the hospital
  • Supporting the Executive Director by being a proactive member of the hospital management team and participating in projects and tasks that are hospital or company orientated

 

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Registered Nurse Level 1 or Registered Practitioner/ Diploma/ relevant Health Speciality Degree/ Degree level qualification
  • Evidence of relevant professional development – clinically and managerially – preferably evidenced by a registered qualification with NMC, HCPC, or GPC
  • Significant managerial experience covering several departments in an acute setting – preferably including wards and/or theatres
  • General clinical background and experience in an acute setting
  • Knowledge of HIS and/or CQC Requirements
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance tools
  • Knowledge of Human Resources, including labour management, interviewing, appraising and counselling tools
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, including risk management
