HCA Laboratories has over 35 years’ experience in providing pathology services, for acute care in our HCA Hospitals, IVF Clinics, Insurance work, healthcare screening and GP services. We cover all disciplines in pathology including allergy, biochemistry and endocrinology, haematology and blood transfusion, histopathology and cytology, immunology, and microbiology and serology, with each laboratory equipped with the best available analytical instrumentation.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be expected to work as a team member within our Biochemistry team and will be responsible for the speedy and accurate processing of samples and the interpretation and validation of results for laboratory users. 

Speedy and accurate processing of samples, the interpretation and validation of results and to assist the department as required. 

Providing a quality, multi-disciplinary analytical role enabling the provision of a comprehensive 24 hour service for laboratory users. 

Working as a team member within Biochemistry bringing any problems which may affect the provision of the service to the attention of Department Head. 

This is a full time role working 37.5hrs per week – this includes flexibility with regards to working hours.

The attractive and competitive salary for this role starts at £31,972 and will be dependent upon skills and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Health and Safety policies
  • Follow HCA policies and procedures
  • Follow SOP’s and in accordance with manufacturers operating instructions
  • Stock control and rotation
  • Identify own training and development needs and undertake training/education as required. Achieve competence in the areas outlined in the training manual. Attend HCA mandatory training
  • Maintain professional development records in compliance with IBMS and HCPC requirements. Treat all users of the service in an efficient and courteous manner and to ensure that all enquiries that cannot be dealt with directly are passed on to an appropriate senior member of the department

Skills & Experience

  • HCPC Registered
  • BSc Biomedical Science or equivalent
  • Member of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences
  • Post registration experience
  • Evidence of continual personal development
