Circle Bath Hospital is growing and we have an opportunity for a Quality and Assurance Lead to join the Group Quality Team, the post is based in Peasedown St John near Bath. The hospital first opened its doors in March 2010. It was designed by renowned architect Sir Norman Foster, this award-winning hospital offers both inpatient and outpatient care to private and NHS patients in a unique setting overlooking the Wiltshire countryside. With a menu influenced by a chef trained at Michelin-starred establishments, staff trained in hospitality and excellent clinical care, Circle Bath was a pioneer in developing hospitals that feel more like a hotel. In 2014, it was ranked among the highest-scoring hospitals for patient-reported outcomes in hip and knee surgery.

Role & Responsibilities: 

We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate individual for the role of Quality & Assurance Lead based at Circle Bath Hospital.  This role is responsible for the management of systems and processes, combined with leadership to ensure that Quality of the highest standard is delivered throughout the hospital and that the board receive reliable assurance.   You must be well organised, have excellent attention to detail skills and have in-depth knowledge and experience of the application of Quality and Assurance processes, ideally in a healthcare setting. The role includes direct line management of the site based Quality Team and reports directly to the Group Director of Quality & Assurance with an accountability to the site Head of Nursing & AHP’s..  The position is responsible for delivering appropriate robust processes throughout the hospital to deliver and provide assurance on quality internally and externally. The ideal candidate would come from an acute provider healthcare background and holds a primary clinical qualification such as a Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional.  

  • Delivering quality and audit training.
  • Ensuring the audit programme throughout the hospital is followed.  Ensuring action plans are in place and delivered in a timely way.
  • Building links with all departments and other quality leads on sites across the group.
  • Provide peer support to quality leads across the group.
  • Liaise with the group quality ‘Head of’ roles in order to deliver the group quality strategy.
  • Ensure that the complaints function is delivered according to the group policies and processes. 
  • To collect, analyse and report data on the effectiveness of Patient Experience and prepare feedback for services to enable quality improvement plans to be prepared.
  • Support the service delivery teams and systems to improve and monitor the quality of the Circle Bath Hospitals patients’ journey.
  • Provide and present reports and audit timetables to the Head of Nursing & AHPs, Clinical Governance & Risk Management Committee, Group Integrated Governance Committee and other meetings as required.
  • To provide training and management of the site risk register and to provide support for the department leads to maintain an accurate risk register.
  • Support with incident management and learning and act as administrator for the risk management system and provide local training for staff.
  • Maintain evidence / reports and standards in order to achieve a minimum CQC rating of ‘good’.
  • To prepare reports for the Head of Nursing and AHPs and commissioners as required.
  • To ensure the completion of the IG toolkit annually.

Person Specification:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in a similar role, ideally in a healthcare environment.
  • Able to prioritise tasks and request assistance when required.
  • Experience of audit, action plans, minute taking
  • Staff management
  • Detailed understanding of components of quality
  • In-depth understanding  of regulation
  • Report writing
  • Experience and management of risk
  • Holds a primary clinical qualification such as a Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional.
