Break into Prison Healthcare!

Have you ever thought about working within the prison environment? Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding role with career development? Then look no further…

Situated in Shaftesbury Dorset, HMP Guys Marsh is a category C training resettlement prison, taking adult males aged 21 and over and an operational capacity of 570+. Care UK recently took over management of the healthcare services at HMP Guys Marsh; we are the Health in Justice Market leader, providing healthcare services to offenders across the country. Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach – an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care. To ensure the continued quality of care at HMP Guys Marsh, we're looking for a Primary Care Nurse to join our team.

What we have to offer:

We recognise training and development is key, therefore we have an onsite training centre to facilitate for your needs. You will gain insight and training in Primary Care and Substance Misuse. If you are new to nursing or offender health, we will create a suitable induction package to ensure you are equipped for this exciting role. We also offer company benefits and schemes including company contributory pension, 25 days annual leave plus 8 public bank holidays, staff well-being, access to bank hours, CPD, re-validation, cycle to work scheme.

About you:

You will be a qualified Registered Nurse with a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever changing. You’ll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourage new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service. You’ll be skilled in making assessments, providing treatments and managing care – you’ll have a professional portfolio that demonstrates your talents in all three areas (including learning and formal education). You should be committed to your own continuing development – we’re looking for someone who wants to develop their skills in relevant clinical areas and who will be willing to undertake training initiatives. If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you!

More information

This is a permanent role which is part time consisting of 19 hours per week. This role has a salary of up to £32,000 per annum (pro rata) depending on experience. Please note that this role is subject to Care UK Terms & Conditions and offers of employment are subject to satisfactory receipt of references, enhanced DBS check and prison vetting.

Based in a secure setting, you will have the opportunity to deliver individualised, evidence-based, patient centred nursing care to a unique and varied population. You will participate in the delivery of primary care services and very day will bring new challenges and new experiences. But at the same time, you’ll have all the support you need to deliver the best care possible.
