Nursing Officer – Life Black Box (6-month fixed term )

Business: Verisk Risk Rating (VRR) / Verisk Analytics, Inc. – working as part of a wider project team across Verisk to develop products and solutions to facilitate Verisk’s entry into the life insurance sector.

Location: The role will be based at VRR's Head Office in Esher, Surrey but may require occasional travel to other Verisk offices.

Hours: 35 hours per week. Standard hours are 9am-5pm but the incumbent will be expected to work the required hours to fulfil the job responsibilities. Flexible working hours will be considered.

Contract Overview

The individual will initially focus on a project to help develop VRR’s fifth product, the Life Black Box, to complement its existing suite of underwriting tools for pre-existing conditions.

The individual will work with VRR colleagues and the Life Insurance Project team in New Jersey to develop a risk rating approach for all common medical conditions within the Life Black Box. Once successfully updated and tested, it is expected that the Black Box will be used by life insurance providers as one element within the underwriting process to assess an individual’s suitability for cover.

Following this, the role will continue to be involved in the ongoing development of the Life Black Box dataset, but will also support, as required, the maintenance and development of other VRR products utilised in the Travel, Health and Income Protection insurance markets.

Role & Responsibilities

• Working with medical and product colleagues, in VRR and the wider Verisk business, to devise a risk rating approach for each medical condition contained within the Life Black Box database
• Using relevant and current research, statistics and other available market data to ensure a consistent, accurate and robust approach to risk rating the various medical conditions identified
• Working closely with US colleagues to ensure the product is aligned with target markets, most likely to be the United States for stage one of the launch

Maintaining awareness of key medical advancements and treatments to ensure that datasets remain relevant and up to date.​

• Skills / Experience

Requirements, background & skills:

• A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience with a minimum of 3 years in an acute care setting (essential)
• A well-rounded and up-to-date general knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and medical conditions (essential)
• Current registration with the NMC or equivalent medical body (desirable)
• Experience within a commercial insurance setting (desirable)
