Job Description

The post holder will work within their scope of professional practice to prioritise people, practice effectively, preserve safety and promote professionalism and trust in effectively managing a ward or department to provide excellent, safe, effective and compassionate care throughout the 24 hour period for a large clinical area.

The post holder will build a culture where innovation and evidence based practice is promoted and encouraged. They will lead by example to develop commitment and consistency in delivering high quality patient care at all times, encouraging continuing professional development and supervision activities in order to enhance the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes of all staff.

This is a full time role working 37.5hrs per week

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Act as an expert practitioner and role model, assisting colleagues to develop advanced knowledge and skills in order to benefit the treatment and care of patients
  • Take responsibility for overseeing the quality of clinical record keeping and the safety and integrity of clinical records whilst on the ward and in use online by staff from the ward.
  • Undertaking of all HR and recruitment processes and procedures in accordance with HCA standard policies and practices
  • Be able to develop, motivate and lead their team by using objectives in line with the department goals
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and positivity to team members during times of increased pressure
  • To work alongside the Clinical Practice Facilitator to ensure the development of local education and training provision meets the needs of the clinical team.
  • a comprehensive, systematic and accurate nursing assessment of their physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs.
  • a documented plan of nursing care, developed where possible in partnership with them, their carers and family and friends, within a framework of informed consent.
  • compassionate and effective nursing care which takes account of social, cultural, spiritual, legal, political and economic influences, ensuring that patient’s dignity and privacy is maintained at all times.
  • timely and accurate administration of medications, infusions, transfusions as prescribed, monitoring patient safety and fluid balance

Skills & Experience

 

·         Diploma or Degree in Nursing or registered experience equivalent to Diploma or Degree

·         RGN with live registration

·         Continued NMC revalidation

·         Evidence of further education

·         ALS or equivalent

·         Mentorship module or equivalent experience

·         Equivalent clinical module in the relevant area of experience
