The hospital also has a several specialised centres, including; The London Breast Institute, recognised as one of the best private breast screening and diagnostic treatment centres in the UK; the London Digestive Centre, a highly specialised outpatient facility offering diagnoses and treatments for all conditions of the stomach, small and large intestines, liver, pancreas, and bile ducts; and The Institute of Sport Exercise and Health, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to sport and exercise medicine.

Urgent care is provided for a variety of conditions, including acute medical conditions such as respiratory and chest complaints; traumatic injuries; ear, nose and throat conditions; fractures, sprains and strains; stomach, bowel and bladder problems; minor wounds, burns, or cuts and grazes and general aches and pains.

We are currently recruiting for a Staff Nurse in our Urgent Care Centre.

Job Description

As a Staff Nurse in Urgent Care you will  assess, plan, deliver and implement a high standard of nursing care, responding to individual needs.

This is a full time position: 37.5 hours per week (Shifts covering 8am-10pm)

Salary: from £1,972-£35,169 (dependent on experience) + enhancements and Benefits

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To demonstrate good clinical practice at all times and to be accountable for own actions
  • Prioritising workloads and directing staff accordingly
  • Make efficient use of available resources
  • Regularly deputise for the Clinical Nurse Manager, providing management and leadership in their absence
  • Promote team working
  • Assess, plan and deliver care, based on individual patient and family needs
  • Able to provide patients with appropriate and clear aftercare advice
  • Evaluate care of the team and ensure standards are met
  • Respect and ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Support and act as role model for junior staff, promoting a learning environment
  • Ensure equipment is in good working order
  • To maintain accurate records of patient care
  • Provide patients and families with information regarding the care and management of their condition
  • Responsible for the control storage and administration of drugs
  • Involvement in projects as required
  • To carry out nursing duties as requested by senior staff

Skills & Experience

  • Registered Nurse Level 1
  • NMC Registration and PREP requirements
  • Emergency nursing experience desirable
  • Triage Skills
  • Recognised post graduate emergency nursing course desirable
  • Phlebotomy training essential
  • Recognised course in plastering techniques desirable
  • Advanced Life Support Course desirable (must have a willingness to undertake if does not hold course)
  • Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures
  • Health and Safety training
  • Lifting and Handling
