We offer opportunities to develop in to a specialist role of your interest which in turn benefits the service. Examples include ANP, BBV, sexual health, plastering, ILS (intermediate life support), health promotion, phlebotomy, vaccinations, suturing, wound care, RCGP, and long term condition courses.

You’ll receive an annual salary of up to £36,000 FTE - dependent on experience; free uniform, free mandatory training, indemnity cover, CPD and re-validation support. HMP YOI Aylesbury is designated as a long term young offender institution. More recently, in 2018 Aylesbury joined the long term high security group and holds the longest sentenced young adult males in the English prison system. It has a capacity of 444 young men aged 18 to 21 years of age housed in seven wings. Care UK manage the healthcare contract at Aylesbury; primary care work between the hours of 08:00 - 20:00 Monday to Thursday, 08:00 - 18:30 on Friday and 08:30 – 17:00 at the weekend - no night shifts. We offer a primary care health services equitable to that in the community. This includes first and second reception screening for new arrivals, emergency response, scheduled nurse triage clinics, phlebotomy, sexual health, smoking cessation, ear syringing, mental health assessments, wellbeing clinics and immunisation and vaccinations. Additional clinics are provided by external subcontractors for secondary care mental health, substance misuse, dentistry, physiotherapy, podiatry and opticians and we have visiting specialists to support when required. As a Senior Nurse you will work as part of an integrated healthcare team, utilising your clinical expertise, decision making and problem solving skills to provide skilled and evidence based nursing care for patients in the prison. You will work within your scope of practice, in accordance with Care UK and prison service policies and procedures in line with the NMC Code of professional conduct, performance and ethics for nurses and midwives. You'll be responsible for leading and developing a team providing clinical supervision to all staff; as well as developing appropriate nurse led clinics in Chronic Disease and Health Promotion. With the ability to think on your feet and a flexible attitude, you’ll be a qualified adult, dual qualified or LND nurse with current NMC registration.
