Break into prison healthcare!

Are you looking to gain nursing experience working in a custodial setting? Have you ever thought about working within the prison environment? Then look no further… Care UK is the Health in Justice Market leader, providing healthcare services to offenders across the country. Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach – an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care. These Bank roles are available at our HMP Featherstone site, which is a medium sized Adult Category C training prison with a diverse range of nursing needs. The role will be an experience like no other requiring a diverse and mixed nursing skills and background. One minute you could be delivering a chronic disease clinic and the next you are attending an emergency response. To ensure the continued quality of care at HMP Featherstone, we’re looking for Bank Staff Nurse to come and join our team.

About the job:

As a Staff Nurse (RGN) within our primary care team, you can expect to be involved in everything from clinical triage to carrying out nurse-led clinics; reviewing patient histories, undertaking relevant examinations and tests, organising any necessary treatment and referring patients to other healthcare professionals when you need to. Across everything you do, you’ll maintain accurate records and provide the kind of helpful, empathetic support that will make every patient feel at ease.

Further job information:

This is a Bank role, working shifts as and when required, covering holidays, sickness etc. The rate of pay is a flat rate of £18.36 per hour. Please note that this role is subject to Care UK Terms & Conditions and offers of employment are subject to satisfactory receipt of references, enhanced DBS check and prison vetting (arranged locally by site). At Care UK, we actively promote diversity and equal opportunities.

As an RGN 1 with valid NMC registration, you’ll bring knowledge of clinical governance and a passion for developing your skills even further. It goes without saying that you’ll have a solid understanding of health and safety, along with exemplary record keeping skills. Self-motivated and able to work autonomously, you’ll show plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations. Beyond that, you should have a flexible approach and the ability to achieve changing priorities by managing your own workload.

Company

At Care UK, we treat everyone as individuals so they can live fulfilling, rewarding and happy lives and we recognise that taking the first step on the journey into care can be daunting.

We are proud to be the most awarded care home provider for the last three years, and we have more outstanding rated homes than any other provider. Independence is not about where you live, but how you live, so if you’re considering care for yourself or a loved one,  discover why we’ve been trusted to care for over 40 years.
