Bournemouth University’s vision is worldwide recognition as a leading university for inspiring learning, advancing knowledge and enriching society through the fusion of education, research and practice. Our highly skilled and creative workforce is comprised of individuals drawn from a broad cross section of the globe, who reflect a variety of backgrounds, talents, perspectives and experiences that help to build our global learning community.

The Faculty of Health and Social Sciences is a vibrant and innovative environment containing five academic departments: Medical Science and Public Health, Nursing Science, Midwifery and Health Sciences, Rehabilitation and Sport Science and Social Sciences and Social Work and a number of research centres that focus on Clinical Research, Long Term Health Challenges, Wellbeing, Dementia and Marginalized Voices. We are investing in some exciting new positions to further align our teaching and research portfolio toward BU’s 2025 strategic plan and the UN Sustainable Development Goals and to position the faculty as a driver of social and economic change.

We are now looking for a Professor/Associate Professor of Nursing in the Department of Nursing Science based at the Lansdowne Campus. This department brings together academics involved in community and primary care and pre-hospital and in-hospital care to build capacity and critical mass for income generation, both in-terms of education provision and strong research programmes. The department has over 1200 undergraduate and postgraduate students in the three fields of nursing (Adult, Mental Health, Children’s and Young peoples) and a substantial CPD portfolio and has strong links with Health care providers in the region.

The department also has a strong research foundation with a track record for income generation through a number of research centres, including the Centre for Nursing and Long Term Health, exploring nursing practice, education and workforce. It is expected the department will continue to conduct innovative and impactful research addressing societal needs, through the inter-disciplinary opportunities available at Bournemouth University.

As Professor /Associate Professor of Nursing, the successful applicant will have a strong track record in research in the discipline of Nursing and postgraduate research supervision and be expected to support and develop the research capacity and capability within the Department. You will be enthusiastic about student-centred pedagogy, and contribute to education delivery, including programme management as required, across the range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will also make a significant contribution to employability, and professional engagement with relevant internal and external organisations, at a regional, national and international level.

You will be qualified to Doctorate level and hold a qualification in a relevant field of Nursing.  You will have demonstrated global research leadership and you will be committed to a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement.
