HMP Hewell is operated by Her Majesty’s Prison Service and covers two sites – a closed category B male remand and a category D male open prison, with an operational capacity of 1,104. In the main closed site, there are 6 main house block residential units. There is also a 20 bed inpatient unit which is covered 24 hours a day.

What will you be doing?

As the Clinical Matron you will be responsible for the effective day-to-day operational management of all primary care services across the prison. You will manage primary care service level agreements, ensuring performance-monitoring standards are adhered to and the highest standards of care are maintained. As a registered adult nurse, you will have a real passion for developing the teams skills in an environment that is ever changing. You’ll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourage new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service. You will have proven post nursing registration experience and experience of key working and care planning as well as evidence of team leadership and supervision of junior staff; participating in planning and/or management meetings at a senior level.

This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week, with working hours being 8:30am-4.30pm Monday to Friday. You will also have the autonomy to flexible working hours should you want to observe an area of practise within one of the functions working outside of core hours.
