Job summary
The National Heart and Lung Institute’s (NHLI) main aims are to carry out research and education in Cardiovascular and Respiratory basic and clinical science. NHLI is committed to the development and delivery of excellent education and training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. NHLI’s education team is responsible for implementing, administering and supporting the Institute’s education and outreach activities, undertaken in line with the College’s strategy for education.
The National Heart and Lung Institute is seeking to appoint a Senior Teaching Fellow to support the PGCert and MSc in Cardiovascular and Respiratory Healthcare MSc. The purpose of this post is to manage, teach, assess and support the PGCert and MSc in Cardiovascular and Respiratory Healthcare MSc.
Duties and responsibilities
You will support the MSc Cardiovascular and Respiratory Healthcare, working closely with the Course Director and Course Administrator to provide an excellent student experience and help NHLI’s academic and teaching staff to deliver a world-class education. This includes the leadership and assessment of specific modules consistent with subject expertise. You will also play a role in curriculum development, cohort building, recruitment and selection of students applying for the course, and promoting awareness of the programme. This role is student-facing and therefore involves a level of pastoral support and review of student feedback.
Essential requirements
The successful candidate will hold a degree in a relevant specialty within cardiovascular or respiratory science/healthcare. Ideally, they will also have a clinical or professional qualification in cardiovascular or respiratory health and prevention, and teaching experience in a Higher Education setting.
They must be able to work well within a team environment. They must have enthusiasm for teaching and be willing to learn new skills to support education. The successful candidate must be adaptable and keen to drive the development of the course and students.
