Unit Nurse Director/Associate Nurse Director - Morriston Hospital Delivery Unit

Salary: £103,000 to £107,141 per annum plus relocation package (as appropriate)

Based: Swansea

Morriston Hospital provides local elective and emergency services in Swansea. Alongside this, we provide regional services for cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, plastics, trauma, renal, stroke, and neurology to a wider population. We also provide a supra-regional burns service and a national paediatric cleft lip and palate service to a population of 2.3 million. The hospital is operating within a rapidly changing, challenging and exciting time of whole system transformation.

We employ 3,500 staff who strive to provide clinically excellent services and as part of the ARCH Programme, the hospital will continue to grow and develop as a regional and specialist centre for the people of Swansea and South West Wales.

We are highly ambitious for the communities we serve and the people we employ, with exciting plans for the future. We have clear values about how we do business, which underpins everything we do – caring for each other, working together and always improving.

The Role:

Reporting to the Service Director you will provide inspirational and effective leadership to the multidisciplinary nursing and supportive care teams in order to deliver exemplary standards of care to patients and families in line with our organisational values.

Working closely in a triumvirate with the Service Director and Unit Medical Director for the effective management, leadership, direction and financial control of nursing services within Morriston Hospital delivery unit. Contributing to and ensuring the delivery of strategic, professional and operational service objectives set by the Board and the Executive team.

Working across organisational boundaries to ensure quality and safety is at the core of the delivery unit objectives.

To be professionally accountable to the Director of Nursing and Patient Experience for leading the nursing strategy and standards of patient care.

The Candidate:

Patient focused, with a clear focus on safety and quality as the driver for change and improvement.

Experience of building strong and effective working relationships and teams both within Morriston Service Unit, across Swansea Bay boundaries and with wider external partners.

Politically astute and able to balance multiple priorities, whilst ensuring the Health Board maintains a citizen centric focus and continues to exceed our citizen’s expectations.

You will be an established nurse leader with drive and ambition.

We would love to hear from applicants who will share our vision and passion, and who can translate that passion into sustained outcomes in patient safety and in the patient experience, meeting the individual needs of every patient we care for.

If you feel you can have an impact in this role and you are an innovative and transformational individual seeking a genuine opportunity to play a key role in the development of our services, then we look forward to hearing from you.

The selection process will be held on Thursday 8th August 2019
