Job Details
Specialist Nurse (SN) or Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP)
in Inherited Cardiac Conditions Service
Job Ref: 321-MRC-B6-7-SAP
Salary: Band 6 or Band 7
Would you like to work in a friendly team, delivering specialist care for patients with inherited heart conditions? We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Band 6 or 7 Specialist Nurse / Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our team, to lead coordination and development of the service, to manage and prepare new referrals to the service prior to cardiac assessment, and provide ongoing day-to-day care of patients in a clinic setting as well as by telephone. This post is based in clinical practice and involves working directly with patients, relatives and clinicians.
The Oxford Inherited Cardiac Conditions (ICC) Service provides multidisciplinary cardiology care and genetic counselling for those families at risk of or affected by ICCs. The service covers a large geographical area, and works closely with colleagues in the Oxford NHS Molecular Genetics Laboratory, the Oxford NHS Clinical Genomics Service, and Specialist ICC teams across the country. This post provides an opportunity to develop in a specialist area and would be supported by internal and external training and personal development.
You should be a Registered Nurse, have excellent telephone, organisational and communication skills, computer database skills, and an ability to work autonomously. You should have professional experience in patient care in Cardiology. Training will be provided in the specialist nature of the service, but previous experience of working with patients with ICCs or in Genetics will be beneficial.
To be appointed at Band 7, you will provide evidence of Masters level study and demonstrate post-graduate level working via a continuous development portfolio. A Masters level qualification (or undergoing) in history-taking and physical assessment, as well as non-medical prescribing, would be advantageous. Completion of an MSc is required for the job title of Advanced Nurse Practitioner. We will consider appointing at a Band 6 level as appropriate. The ability to initiate, sustain and evaluate change is essential.
The post is full time; proposals for part time working will be considered. Visits or phone calls to the team are encouraged.
