Nurse Specialist x2

The Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) is the leading user-led charity supporting people living with or affected by spinal cord injury. We passionately believe that people with a spinal cord injury should receive the specialist treatment, rehabilitation, care and support needed from the moment of injury or diagnosis and throughout their lives to become independent, empowered individuals leading fulfilled lives.  We have an impressive track record of providing high impact, quality services for spinal cord injured people and their families for over 40 years, including our recently introduced SCI Nurse Specialist service.

Spinal Cord Injury Nurse Specialist (2 posts)
Salary: £37,890 per annum
Home-based covering: North East/Yorkshire region or The Midlands
Hours: Full Time (37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday)
Part-time working will be considered for the right candidate

The remit of this service is to ensure access to quality care provision for all spinal cord injured people by offering one-to-one support, guidance and advice and by working with those involved in their treatment and care to help improve knowledge of the condition.  Demand for the service is such that we are now looking to expand our SCI Nurse Specialist team to help reach the ever growing number of spinal cord injured people that are unable to benefit from specialist rehabilitation and whose quality of life may be seriously impacted without expert support.

Working in designated geographic locations, our SCI Nurse Specialists will be highly motivated, skilled and enthusiastic individuals with the ability to diversify and engage with others across a range of settings, including acute care, rehabilitation facilities and out in the community.  They will share and disseminate skills/knowledge to health care teams outside of the specialist setting, using excellent problem solving, communication and negotiation skills to help overcome any challenges. As strong team players they will work in an integrated way with other SIA teams and key stakeholders, making a positive contribution that will help bring about transformational change and ensure a fulfilled life for all those affected by spinal cord injury.

Geographic locations to be covered are the North East/Yorkshire region and the Midlands region so we particularly welcome applications from candidates living in these areas.

These roles are home-based and are full time (37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday), although part-time working will be considered for the right candidate.  They are offered at a salary of £37,890 per annum plus 25 days leave, usual Bank Holidays, pension scheme and life cover.

Closing date for applications is 5pm Friday 6th September 2019 with interviews taking place at our headquarters in Milton Keynes on 24th and 25th September 2019
