HCA Healthcare UK has developed a dedicated private centre in partnership with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. The Christie Private Care treats private patients with a full range of diagnostic, inpatient, surgical, day care and outpatient treatment all on one site.

The Christie is an impressive and well-respected NHS Trust which is a European cancer centre providing advanced cancer care and housing the world's largest early clinical trials unit. The Christie Private Care builds on these services and provides state-of-the-art private patient facilities which include; 28 bedded inpatient Oncology wards, 6 bed Haematology and Transplant unit, Day Case Chemotherapy Unit, Outpatient Department, Specialised Radiotherapy Unit & Psychology services

Job Description

To work on the treatment unit and in the pre-treatment areas carrying out accurate and consistent simulation and treatment techniques as well as administration aspects; and to assist in maintaining and developing the radiotherapy service.

This is a full time role working 37.5hrs per week with an attractive and competitive salary, dependent upon skills and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain exemplary professional standards and quality assurance in all aspects of patient care.
  • Operate radiotherapy equipment in accordance with operational procedures, ensuring routine quality assurance procedures are carried out.
  • Carry out radiotherapy planning scans to facilitate accurate radiotherapy planning, under the direction of senior radiotherapy staff.
  • Be responsible for the accurate administration of radiotherapy treatments, including accurate documentation in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of systems of work, quality assurance procedures and protocols.
  • Maintain effective liaison with all appropriate staff to ensure the provision of a high quality service and a smooth and efficient work flow through the department.
  • Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to support and participate in a team approach to problem solving, leading to the continued development of the radiotherapy service 
  • Ensure all equipment faults and malfunctions are recorded and reported in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all errors and incidents are recorded and reported in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. 
  • Ensure accurate statistical information is collated in accordance with departmental policy.
  • Observe current legislation regarding the use of ionising radiation, local rules for radiation safety and COSHH regulations.
  • Ensure continued professional development.
  • Act as ambassador for HCA NHS Ventures and maintain and foster current and future customer relations.

Skills & Experience

  • BSc in Therapeutic Radiography or equivalent
  • HCPC registration
  • Minimum two years radiotherapy experience
  • Range of professional expertise
  • Experience in treatment administration, to include bookings and pre-treatment plan checks
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electronic patient management systems and record and verify systems
  • Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures
  • Conflict resolution in a variety of clinical and non-clinical situations
