Burton Park is a neurobehavioural locked rehabilitation hospital for patients with acquired brain injury and neuroprogressive conditions patient displaying co-existing neuropsychiatric conditions and challenging behaviour.

There are three wards offering 50 beds. Warwick Lodge, Dalby and Cleves. A variety of care pathways are available, including acute and longer-term neurobehavioural rehabilitation and person-centred care, emphasising the least restrictive setting.

The multi-disciplinary team includes psychology, nursing, occupational therapy, speech & language therapy, physiotherapy, social workers and medical.

Burton Park is a member of the Independent Neurorehabilitation Providers Alliance (INPA). 

Main Responsibilities:

Co-ordinates, negotiates and manages the mandatory processes and procedures to ensure the unit’s compliance with current legislation and statutory regulation; taking appropriate action to preserve the psycho-social and socio-economic circumstance of assigned clients attending Priory units; needs assessments of clients and their families and identification of relevant resources pre and post discharge.

To co-ordinate health, rehabilitation, social service, medico-legal and voluntary agencies to ensure an individually tailored programme is provided for each client, to establish the necessary level of care and to liaise with external agencies to help obtain the funding and services necessary to meet ongoing needs.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• A degree level in social work

• Registered with the General Social Care Council

• Detailed knowledge and comprehensive understanding of current legislation.

• In-depth knowledge and experience of working within a multi-disciplinary setting in relation to physical and neurological conditions and the impact on the service users.

• Knowledge and experience of community resources.

• Problem solving relying upon extensive acquired practical and theoretical social work knowledge and experience, informed by ongoing evidence based research.

• Effectively manage their own caseloads within established procedures and regulatory framework.

• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and report writing skills are essential in order to gain and retain the confidence of service users in often complex and emotive situations.

• The post holders need to forge and maintain good working relationships with local agencies, the courts and other organisations concerned with mental health, child and adult protection and social welfare.

EXPERIENCE

Experienced Social Worker, ideally within the specialist area of neuro-rehabilitation and physical disability where the post holder has gained first-hand experience in liaising with Social Services, the NHS, Housing departments, the legal profession, courts and the Department of Works and Pensions in order to co-ordinate and implement the processes and procedures required under current legislation.
